A Gentle Practice for the Nervous System, the Skin, and the Seasons

If you’ve received one of my facials before, you already know I approach skincare a little differently. Yes, I exfoliate, nourish, hydrate, and rejuvenate the skin, but the deeper intention is always to support your state of mind. How you feel in your body shapes how your skin looks, heals, and glows.
I may not be reading your tarot cards during the service, but I do use my intuitive knowledge to work with the mind, body, and spirit. Often, I’ll quietly read your chakras before we begin so we can both understand what the mind and body are asking for.
This is why I’ve leaned more fully into marma point therapy, a gentle Ayurvedic technique woven throughout my facials, foot rituals, and crown treatments. Marma work is subtle but powerful, and it creates the deep exhale most of my clients describe after their sessions.
I learned this technique in 2018 in California from a wonderful husband-and-wife Ayurvedic team. It was an eye-opening (third eye-opening!) experience. From there, I realized how these subtle points can shift the mind, body, and soul.
Today I want to share what marma points are, why I use them, and how they make your treatment so deeply restorative.
What Are Marma Points?
In Ayurveda, marma points are considered vital energy points -places where the mind, body, breath, and nervous system intersect.
There are 107 classical marma points in the body, but in my facial work I focus mainly on the 37 marma points of the head, neck, and chest. When I work on the feet or dry brush during my Ultimate Radiance Ritual, I incorporate marma points throughout the body.
Marma therapy influences:
the nervous system
lymphatic flow
stress patterns in the face
emotional tension
mental clarity
rest and digestion
You can think of marma points as little communication hubs inside the body. When touched mindfully and gently, they signal the entire system: “You are safe. You can soften now.” And when the nervous system softens, the skin follows.
Why I Use Marma Points in My Services
I’ve always believed that skincare is more than surface-level. The skin is deeply connected to how we sleep, eat, breathe, think, and move through the world. Marma therapy allows me to support all of that during your facial, without adding extra time or cost, simply through intention and technique.

Here are the benefits my clients feel the most:
1. Deep Nervous System Relaxation
Marma work helps the body shift out of “fight or flight” and into “rest and restore.”This is when the skin naturally:
detoxifies
heals
brightens
and regains its natural radiance
This is also why many clients feel emotional release or a sense of inner calm after a treatment.
2. Relief from Jaw, Eye, and Facial Tension
We hold stress in the jaw, temples, scalp, and around the eyes. Marma points in these areas help melt the patterns that create:
tight jaws
headaches
furrowed brows
tired eyes
puffiness
It’s subtle work that often makes a big difference.
3. Better Circulation & Lymphatic Flow
Because marma points influence the nervous system and breath, they help open the pathways that support lymphatic drainage and healthy blood flow.
Clients often notice they look:
brighter
lifted
less puffy
more awake
All without deep pressure or aggressive massage.
4. Emotional Grounding and Mental Clarity
The points at the third eye, temples, and crown are especially helpful for quieting the mind.
Many clients describe feeling:
mentally clearer
emotionally lighter
more centered
This is one of the reasons I love closing my facials with a crown treatment, it brings the entire session into harmony.

How I Use Marma Points in My Facials
Every facial begins by grounding the body and ends with calming the mind.
Most of my work is done with my hands, but I also use a kansa wand, a traditional Ayurvedic tool that helps activate and soften marma points. It can also help draw toxins to the surface of the skin, a natural Ayurvedic detox reaction.

Here’s a simple look at where marma points appear:
neck & shoulders → release held tension
temples & outer eyes → soften stress patterns
sides of the nose → encourage steady breath
third eye → calm the mind
crown of the head → integrate the entire treatment
These points are held or touched lightly with intention, using the rhythm of your breath to guide the pace.
Marma Points in Foot Soaks & Crown Treatments
This technique isn’t just for the face, it is woven into my other rituals as well, especially in the Ultimate Radiance Ritual.
Foot Soaks
There is a major marma point on the sole of the foot called Talahridaya, known for its grounding, calming effect. When paired with warm herbal water and the kansa wand, it settles the entire body before your facial even begins.
Crown Treatments
The crown marma point, Adhipati, is associated with mental clarity, ease, and emotional integration. Ending a session with this point helps your body absorb the work and leaves you feeling deeply rested.
Why This Matters in a Holistic Practice
I work seasonally with nature, not against it, and marma therapy fits beautifully into that rhythm. It honors the connection between home, health, and nature, the three pillars of my practice and the way I approach skin and self-care.
If You’re Curious to Experience It
Every facial I offer includes marma point therapy. It doesn’t cost more, it’s simply part of how I care for you. If you’d like to experience the difference marma can make in your skin and your state of mind, you can book a session with me at The Glowing Body.
Your skin will feel the benefits…but so will your whole body.
